Our goal is to encourage and equip men to lead, love, and serve like Jesus in all of their many roles – whether it’s modeling Christ at work or school, growing as a loving husband, or developing character as a father. Below are a few opportunities for men to connect.
Men’s Study
Men's Dinner
Thursday, July 9 | 7-9pm | Back Lawn
Join us for a Men’s Dinner to kick off our summer series. Men, bring a lawn chair and join us for a smoked brisket dinner on the River West lawn as we launch our four-week summer study, The Challenging Way of Jesus. Whether you can participate in the study or not, we want all men to come for dinner!
Summer Series
July 9 - August 6 | Various Times + Locations
Huddles will meet four times in homes or other locations across the city throughout the week, so you can choose the one that fits you best. Please note that some groups meet in the morning and others in the evening. Study journals will be available at the dinner.
4th Quarter Men’s Ministry
We are a community of senior men engaged in building a community of Christ for the world by gathering to fellowship, grow, learn, and serve. Activities include weekly Bible study, book groups, and service projects.

Mens Book Review + Discussion Thursdays, October 9th, 2025-October 1st, 2026.

Mike Self
Men + Families Pastor
Mike Self
Mike brings over 30 years of ministry experience to the River West team and has been on staff since 2008. He graduated from the University of Texas (Hook 'em Horns!) and received his masters degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. He's passionate about equipping and encouraging men to grow in Christlike love and service in all the roles they play. Mike met his wife, Kathleen, our children's ministry pastor, at a summer camp in New Mexico while they were both in college. They have two adult children, Maddie and Mason. Mike is an avid swimmer and enjoys mountain biking and hiking. When he inevitably injures himself doing one of those, he enjoys less strenuous activities like reading, watching movies and college football.
