You're only as strong as what you are standing on

At River West Church, our goal is to understand who Jesus is, and what He has done for us, in the fullest sense. This means growing in faith and learning how to apply it to everyday life. Classes are a great way to do just that. We offer a variety of classes throughout the year. To find out when classes are offered, click on Events at the top right of this page.

River West Core Classes

These classes provide a foundation for who we are as a church, and our role as members of the church body. It is our hope that all River Westers will attend Core Classes.

Introducing River West

Get acquainted with the story, values, and vision of River West Church! IRW is a great opportunity for new-comers to have lunch with church leaders and members of the community.

The Gospel Class

Together we’ll unpack what the Gospel is, and how this message shapes our lives and our community of faith. Understand how the Gospel can powerfully change the way you think, live, love, and see God, yourself, and others.

For more information, contact Pastor Christopher Coffman at chris@riverwest.org.

The Mission Class

Discover what your divine mission is from the Scriptures, and be equipped and challenged to answer Christ’s call to mission by praying, loving, serving, and sharing the Gospel with others!

Christian Faith Classes

These classes dig deep into Gospel truths, unpack the Word, and engage the heart and mind in understanding Christianity.

How To Study the Bible

Sunday, Oct. 16 | 12:45pm | Student Min. Rm.

The Bible tells us that every believer has received spiritual gifts from God. In this lunch, you’ll discover your spiritual gifts and ways to use these gifts to serve others. Lunch and childcare provided.

Registration will open on September 12.

Christianity Explored

This class is open to anyone desiring a deeper understanding of Jesus, His work, and what it means to follow Him. Together we’ll seek to understand who the person of Jesus Christ really was, what the Christian faith is all about, why Jesus is so central to it, and what His life has to do with ours.

For more information, contact Don Lewis at lewisdkl@comcast.net.

Understanding Baptism

Do you have questions about Baptism? Have you felt the Lord nudging you to make this profession of faith, but struggled with confusion or anxiety about getting baptized? Understanding Baptism is a two-session class that focuses on what Jesus and the Apostles taught on the importance and practice of Baptism. Join us and learn why baptism is such a joyful and significant part of our experience as the community of Jesus Christ.

For more information, contact Pastor Eric Johnson at eric@riverwest.org.

Christian Life Classes

These classes bring us full circle, by helping us to practically apply the Gospel to our everyday lives.

Shepherding Your Family (Parenting Class)

Parenting is the most difficult, yet most rewarding job you will ever have! As parents, we need vision and direction in order to parent well.

Pastors Mike and Kathleen have created a parenting curriculum called “Shepherding Your Family” based on 1 Peter 5:1-4. This passage gives an excellent framework for understanding our parenting role so that we make the most of the time we have with our kids and prepare them for a life of impact in this world for Christ.

For more information, please contact Pastor Mike Self at mike@riverwest.org.

GriefShare is a 13-week course that helps you face the challenges associated with losing a loved and moves you forward in rebuilding your life. The class combines video instruction with group discussion and personal study in God’s Word.

For more information, contact Pastor Eric Johnson at eric@riverwest.org.
