Power in the Personal Invitation

Jack Currin, my roommate, teammate, and friend at the University of Texas, invited me to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) huddle almost every Wednesday night of our freshman year.

I always declined.

I was always “too busy” or “too tired” to attend.

He also invited me to church.

I always declined.

I valued sleeping in.

I didn’t have a great freshman year for many reasons, and while I was home over the summer, I thought about Jack, FCA, and church.  Even though I grew up going to church, I was not a believer.  I started wondering if I would benefit from FCA and exploring what it meant to have a relationship with Jesus.

I decided to go to FCA when I returned to campus, but ONLY if Jack invited me.  I put it all on him!  Without his invitation, I wasn’t going to go.

Sure enough, Jack invited me to the FCA huddle on the first Wednesday of our sophomore year.

That invitation changed my life. 

It was through the ministry of FCA and Jack’s friendship that I found Christ.

Men, there is power in the personal invitation.  I’m so thankful Jack didn’t give up on inviting me, even though I turned him down numerous times.

At River West, we are building a community of men who reflect Christlike love and service in all their many roles.  Who can you invite to join our growing community?

Fathers, this conference is designed to encourage you in one of the most important roles you will ever have. Our sons and daughters need strong fathers who love and lead well. Our conference speakers are passionate about fathering with great intentionality, and they look forward to sharing with you. Grandfathers are also encouraged to attend!

Super Bowl Saturday Men’s Breakfast

Saturday, February 10th | 7:30-9:30am | RW Sanctuary

Men, join us Super Bowl Weekend for a Men’s Breakfast!  Whether you’re a long-time River West guy or brand-new, this event is for you. We’ll hear about the long-term vision of Men’s Community and what we are planning next for you. We’ll also get to hear a brief message on “How to Win the Life Game.”

Man Camp | Washington Family Ranch | May 17-19

We’ve been talking about Man Camp 2024 since last year, and registration is now open!  This weekend is for men and their teen sons who want to grow in their faith and connect with other men while having a great time at a premiere camp!
